'Twas the night before travelling...

when all through the house...
all the creatures were stirring
especially the spouse...
The suitcases were packed all full to the top
until the zippers were ready to pop.
And I with my lists on a paper all writ
wandered about, with no time to sit
and what to my wandering eye did I see
Colin outside looking at a tree
With a hollar and shout as I wrestled the bag
It was so heavy down the hall I did drag
In he flew like a jet taking off saying to Facebook
Happy holidays to all and to all at our blog you should look!

See you all at the other end!

Planning underway...

So here we are 4 days later and some planning has begun... the final itinerary has been mapped out and some golf has been booked... Originally it wasn't going to be a golf holiday but oh well the clubs will be coming along...

We have booked two rounds so far. In Couer d'Alene, we booked "The Highlands". Here is a link to their website... http://www.thehighlandsgc.com/Default.aspx

We had thought to maybe play the Couer d'Alene resort course but at $225 a round, we gave it a pass... besides the island green that requires a boat ride might be a little much for a vacation round of golf - here's a photo:

We also booked a round in Victoria at Bear Mountain Resort. This is the course where Mike Weir won the Telus Skins game this year. Here's a link to their website: http://bearmountain.ca/Home/Play/MountainCourse.aspx

We decided to play the same course - the mountain course - that the Skins game was on ... might be an ambitious choice... here's a photo:

We have three more rounds of golf to plan... one in Calgary, one in Seattle and one in Banff. Hmmm.... choices choices choices...

Left in the planning stage is accommodations and ferry bookings... when we have travelled to Lund in the past we found it better to pre-book the ferry crossings to guarantee places on the ferries. We once missed a ferry crossing and it doubled the amount of time to travel from Lund to Vancouver (5 hours to 9 hours... once you miss one, you miss another... and missing one means you gotta wait awhile for the next...)

So we are on our way to getting this trip booked... all that will be left is the Canadian Open and laundry before we can be "gone west" again!

10:51 pm - 6 hours later... all hotels and ferries are reserved... we are ready to go!

The planning stage....

We are going back to the mountains!

Every couple of years, we "go west" for holidays to visit family and enjoy the majesty of the mighty mountains...

The itinerary this year is to fly to Calgary, drive to Vancouver, Lund, Victoria, Seatle, Coure d'Alene, back to Calgary and then fly home.

Here's our map:

It is July 4th and still nothing is booked... guess I'd better get on that...

Thanks to Maggie for this blogging idea... hopefully I'll be just as dedicated to adding posts and that I'll have some interesting adventures to share...
